Edible Finger Paints for Kids

17 July 2014 | By

We all know that kids love finger painting. But for parents with extra curious children who often eat their art supplies (glue, paint, and crayons are their usual victims) more than they actually use them to make art, it’s better to make your own safe and edible alternatives.

Here’s what you’ll need:

-1/3 cup of flour
-2  tablespoons of sugar
-2 cups of water
-food coloring

Mix all of your ingredients (except the food coloring) in a pot. Whisk the mixture until it becomes smooth, then turn on the heat. Keep whisking it until you achieve a thicker–but still runny–consistency. Once you’re satisfied, pour them into individual containers and add a few drops of food coloring to achieve the colors you want for your finger paints.

Allow to cool before use.
