DIY Framed Chalkboard Clock

chalkboard clockA framed chalkboard clock would make a quirky, adorable, and of course functional¬†addition to your home decor. It’s such a cute idea!

Here’s what you’ll need:

-flat wood board (in the same shape as your frame)
-clock kit (with hands and battery)
-chalkboard paint
-glue gun

First, drill a hole in your wood board (if you don’t know how, check out this tutorial). When that’s done, paint the board with some primer. Set aside and allow to dry completely.

Then, paint the wood board with three coats of chalkboard paint–let each coat dry before applying the next one. Before applying the final coat of chalkboard paint, lightly sand the board with your sandpaper and brush off the excess dust.

After the paint has dried, condition your new chalkboard by taking a piece of chalk and rubbing it all over the painted wood board. Then, wipe it clean with a damp cloth.

Assemble your clock mechanism and add the clock hands, then use your glue gun to stick your chosen frame onto the board.

And finally, draw the face of your clock!
