mason jar herbsIf you love cooking and gardening, this is the perfect project to take on when the next DIY urge hits you–an indoor herb garden in mason jars! You’ll have fresh, organic herbs right there to make cooking even easier and more convenient. Plus they look pretty darn cute–they’ll definitely brighten up your kitchen quite a bit.

Here’s what you’ll need:

-mason jars (half-pint)
-organic perlite
-pea pebbles
-organic soil
-herb seeds

Pour about half an inch of perlite into your mason jar. Next, add your pea pebbles–about half an inch as well. Then, fill the jar with your organic soil, but don’t fill it all the way to the lip of the jar–leave about half an inch of space at the top.

Pat the top of the soil down, then make a small hole in the middle with your finger. And finally, take your herb seeds of choice, take about a pinch or two of seeds, and place them in the hole.

To water your herbs, pour some water into the jar until you see the water soak the perlite and pebbles below. You will know that it’s time to water your herb again when you see them dry up.

Happy gardening!
