Homemade Glittery Galaxy Slime for Kids

galaxy slimeFor some reason, kids really love to play with slime–they just love it. Maybe it’s the slightly gross, ooey-gooey texture, or maybe just the funky neon colors. Either way, if you give your kids some slime to play with, you will definitely earn some “fun parent” points.

And the good news is, slime is actually really easy to make–and it’s inexpensive, too.

But regular Nickelodeon-green slime is boring and overrated… so why not make this¬†gorgeous, glittery galaxy slime?

Here’s what you’ll need:

-clear Elmer’s glue
-food coloring (at least three different colors)
-glitter (silver, as well as other colors that complement your food coloring)
-liquid starch

Take a bowl and pour in a sizable amount of the clear Elmer’s glue. Add a few drops of food coloring and at least three different shades of glitter (choose glitter that would go well with your food coloring shade) into the glue, then mix them all together with a spoon, popsicle stick, or whatever you have on hand.

To make it slime-like, add a few drops of liquid starch into the mixture and stir. Keep adding small amounts of liquid starch until you get your preferred slime consistency.

You can stop here for if you’re happy with plain glittery slime, but if you want to make glittery galaxy slime, you need to make a few more batches.

Remove the slime from the bowl, clean it, then pour in glue. Repeat the same process, but use a different shade of food coloring and different shades of glitters.

Repeat the process a third (or even fourth) time.

When you’re done, lay each of the differently colored slime on top of each other and “mush” them together until you get a galaxy slime.
