Microwave Potato Chips

potato chipsPotato chips are incredibly delicious and addictive–it’s just too bad that they are also extremely unhealthy for you! It can’t be good for your body to ingest all that oil and all that sodium, not to mention all those other unknown ingredients in there.

The good news is, healthier┬áhomemade potato chips–made with absolutely no oil–are pretty easy to make… especially if you have a microwave. And you get to control what ingredients go into them!

Here’s what you’ll need:

-salt and pepper (or your choice of seasonings)
-a mandoline slicer or vegetable peeler
-a microwave

Slice your potatoes very, very thinly with your mandoline slicer–1/8 or 1/16 inches thick would be ideal. If you don’t have a mandoline, you could also use a vegetable peeler.

Soak your potato slices in a bowl of water for a few minutes. Then, dry them with some paper towels. Place each slice on a microwave-safe plate (make sure to not overcrowd them) and sprinkle your chosen seasonings on top–salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or cayenne powder are some suggestions.

Microwave your chips for about three minutes on 100% power. When the three minutes are up, flip each chip over and microwave for another three minutes on 50% power.

Bonus tip: If you want salt and vinegar chips, soak the potato slices in vinegar and don’t dry them after.
