rainbow popsicle soapWhy make boring old rectangular soaps when you can make colorful rainbow soaps shaped like popsicles? If you’re looking for a fun summer project for yourself or for the kids, try this Rainbow Popsicle Soap DIY tutorial!

Here’s what you’ll need:

soap base
soap dye (in different shades)
-rubbing alcohol
-popsicle mold
-popsicle sticks
-essential oils (optional)

Chop up your soap base into little pieces, place in a microwave-safe container, and melt in the microwave for a few seconds, or until all the pieces have melted.

Add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to the melted soap base to add fragrance, then add some drops of your first soap dye and mix until you get the shade you want. Since you’re making rainbow soaps, you might want to start with pink or red, then make a batch with some orange dye, followed by yellow, green, blue, and finally, purple.

Pour your first batch of melted, colored soap into your popsicle mold, and spray a bit of rubbing alcohol into each mold afterwards to get rid of any air bubbles.

Allow the soap to dry and harden before pouring in the second colored batch. Take note that the second batch should be slightly cool, but not to the point where it has solidified. The reason for this is that if the second soap batch is too hot, it can melt the first batch that has already hardened in your popsicle mold and cause the two colors to blend together.

Repeat the entire process with the rest of the colors, but remember to insert your popsicle sticks into the molds once you get to your third or fourth color.

Place your soap popsicles in the freezer for at least 30 minutes, then run the entire mold under hot water before carefully popping each one out.

And that’s it!
